A Message from the FOI-Australia Ministry Team

Dear Friend,

Firstly, thank you for your incredible outpouring of support for the ongoing crisis in the Ukraine. Your gifts are already making a real difference in the rescue of many Ukrainian Jews.

The Eastern European Relief Fund is supporting thousands of displaced Jews fleeing from Ukraine into Poland and other European countries. Our workers are assisting in what is often a very dangerous environment. Here’s a snippet from one of our staff just in the past 24hrs.

“We are thankful to the Lord for his provision of strength during this crucial time. It is very busy here in Poland. Each day the number of people coming to Warsaw is growing. It is estimated that 250 000 refugees made it to Warsaw since the war in Ukraine. Poland took in 1.5 million refugees and the numbers are still growing fast.
We pick up people from the train and bus stations and take them to the farm where they can rest after many days of travel. We also try to assist them with their transfer to Israel or other countries in Europe. Sometimes people come with no documents and need help in receiving new documents. Each day this task becomes more difficult as the lines to the Israeli and Ukrainian consulate are growing. But thanks to the Lord we are finding solutions to many different problems.”

We at the Friends of Israel have so often shared with the Church how our organisation came into being as Europe was descending into chaos at the hands of the Nazi’s in 1938. And here we are again, at this moment in history, prayerfully and practically at the ready to assist the Ukrainian Jewish community in this hour of suffering at the hands of Vladimir Putin and the might of the Russian forces.

Here are some more most recent first hand experiences from believers on the ground risking all in order that they might save some.

“Some of them [Ukraine refugees] just arrived this morning after a long trip from Ukraine through Moldova, Hungary, and Slovakia. The FOI intern went to the Moldova border to pick them up.
[Another worker] is also often driving to the border to pick up people and bring them to Wisla or Warsaw.
[A.N] is involved in organizing help that is sent to Ukraine. With a group of believers, they organize Vans of clothes and food which is taken to Eastern Ukraine. The drivers are Ukrainian believers that drive into very dangerous territories. Some people were killed as they were delivering help to people stuck in East Ukraine. Despite this, the help is still continued.”

Friends, like us you may feel helpless as you watch on your TV’s the dramatic scenes taking place so far away. But you can make a difference in two significant ways.

PRAY, PRAY, PRAY for the safe passage of the all the Ukrainian refugees, both Jew and Gentile alike as they flee the terror in their country.

GIVE, GIVE GIVE as the Lord directs your hearts to the work taking place to protect and provide for the Jewish people, many who will begin a new life in the land of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Eretz Israel in the days ahead.
