INTRODUCING Lyndon & Janine Beasy
1. Tell us a bit about you, your family and your faith.
My wife, Janine, and I have been married for 29 years and we have two sons – Jared (26) & Liam (24). Both Jared & Liam are Youth Pastors and we are blessed that they know the Lord and desire to serve Him with their lives. Although, in 1993, when Janine & I were married, I had no plans to move into Ministry (and Janine never wanted to marry a minister!) six months later God radically called me to leave my accountancy career, go to Bible College and serve Him however He would lead me. Since 1995, I have been a Church Pastor serving in four churches across Melbourne and Adelaide. Our journey has had many blessings and challenges and we’ve learned that our ministry calling hasn’t been so much about what we have done for God but what God has done for us to deepen us in Him.
2. How did you first hear about Friends of Israel and come to join the mission?
I concluded my last Church Ministry in 2016 and spent nearly six years waiting on God for what He wanted us to do next. This long and extended time period was due to a perfect storm of factors – along with taking a year off to rest and prepare for God’s next move, Janine& I were both diagnosed with cancer within a three month period and this led to a further two years of recovery and rest. Then Covid hit and, as Melbourne residents, this resulted in another two years of lock downs and church closures.
But God used all this time to redirect me away from the potential of further church ministry and He did a new work in me. Without any ministry agenda,He awakened my heart and revealed to me afresh God’s heart and plan for Israel, the significance of Prophetic Scripture and the primacy of Christ’s Return as our blessed hope. I also became a student of global political issues and cultural events which made it clear to me that the stage is being set for everything the Bible prophesies about the end times before the coming of Christ and His Kingdom. What struck me was how far the modern church has moved away from biblical teaching on any of these issues crucial to our faith and hope in Christ. I developed an unshakeable conviction that God wanted me to be a minister of these biblical issues and truths. However, I had few if any available avenues to pursue ministry according to these convictions. Then one day, out of the blue, God brought divine convergence. Through a simple Facebook response I made to a post by Dr. Les Crawford, he made contact me and asked what I was doing in life. Dr.Deane Woods then called me an hour later to discuss the possibility of taking on his NSW FOI Ministry, as he was soon retiring. 24 hours later Janine & I realised that this FOI ministry was specifically what God had been preparing and planning for us all along. As we often like to say, "God takes a long time to act quickly!!" Through a process of meetings with Reps of FOI-Australia and then FOI-USA, I officially commenced with FOI July 1 this year. The plan is for Janine & me to move to Sydney early in 2023. We are trusting God to time things according to His purposes and provision re housing and other life factors we are needing & seeking.
3. What is your role at FOI and what geographical area will you be serving?
My specific role will be as the NSW FOI Field Representative based in Sydney. Dr Deane Woods has built up a strong and respected FOI ministry over the last twenty years throughout Sydney, NSW, Australia and Internationally. I pray that God will use Janine & me fruitfully to carry on, in some measure, the faithful work of Deane and Margaret, according to our own gifts and calling from God.
4. What excites you about FOI and the opportunity God has given you to serve in this ministry?
I am excited about starting a completely new adventure of life and mission based in Sydney. It will be a big move and transition for us but we are trusting God to lead and provide for all of our needs. We are also looking forward to discovering more about the specific FOI ministry that God will develop and direct us into. There will be opportunities to learn and serve Jewish communities, teach in Churches and educate Christians about vital but often neglected biblical issues, mentor leaders, participate in Israel Teaching Tours and contribute to the wider FOI team and growing national FOI work. All these things have great purpose for me in not only ministering God’s truth and heart to people but in preparing and readying ourselves for the promised imminent Return of Jesus Christ!
